Robert May
Local Wildlife Artist
Roberts two latest paintings return to wildlife closer to home.
Robert continues to capture african wildlife held in fascination as well as portraying our New Forest locals.
Robert May was born in Wantage, Oxfordshire, in 1951 but now lives and works on the south coast of England as an animal and landscape artist.
He spent approximately 15 years as a graphic artist, painting animal and landscape studies in his spare time, which were sold through local galleries. In 1983, he decided to concentrate on Fine Art and was subsequently commissioned to paint a range of greeting card designs depicting dogs. These proved to be very popular and this success led to further commissions for a variety of animal and wildlife subjects, many of which were reproduced as greeting cards and prints.
Robert is self-taught and his work incorporates a high degree of detail and the life-like quality often captivates collectors. He publishes his own work, which is sold in many countries throughout the world.
