Born in 1969, Jo trained at Winchester School of Art and Kingston University, graduating in 1996 with an MA in Fine Art.
Jo has a particular passion for painting the city and its people and encourges the viewer to take a second look and get involved in the many characters and the stories they tell. She takes full advantage of living close to London, taking frequent trips to observe and photograph people going about their daily lives. Influenced by artists such as Pissarro, Hopper and Lowry, her work is bright and contemporary and whilst she works in a variety of media she particularly enjoys acrylic for its speed and flexibility.
Jo has exhibited all around the UK and has sold work both nationally and internationally. She has won several prizes and in recent years has been shortlisted for major prizes including BBC Wildlife Artist of the year, Surrey Artist of the Year and Artist and Illustrators Artist of the Year.
