Gill Storr

Gill Storr is a contemporary mixed media artist focusing on boats and sailing. She uses photographic images as a starting point and then adds layers of paint and other mediums to give texture and movement.

Born and brought up in London, where she is still based, Gill studied Fine Art and went on to co-found a global design and marketing agency. In 2017 she decided to focus more on original artwork, blending her artistry with her knowledge of design, keen to produce tactile rather than digital artworks. In 2019 she stepped away completely from the graphic design role to concentrate on her art which was making an impact online and in shows. With family connections to the water through the generations, it was natural for her to be drawn to yachting scenes. Her pictures combine choppy textures and fluid layers in loose, flowing pieces with a semi abstract approach and distinctive use of colour.
