Born in 1934 in the East End of London, Jean joined a circus at the age of 14 and thus began her theatrical career. She toured variety theatres throughout the UK, and in 1954 was invited to become a Windmill Girl at the famous Windmill Theatre in the West End of London, working with such greats as Harry Secombe and Bruce Forsyth.

In the 1970s she spent time in the USA performing her cabaret act at the Chicago Hilton Hotel and the Carlton Hotel, New York, and becoming a regular on the Joey Adams' chat show, '‘Coast to Coast'.

In the 1980s Jean returned to England and was often seen on British TV. She worked on shows such as Hi-de-hi, ‘EastEnders and appeared in many TV ads as well as performing on the British cabaret circuit.

In the early 1990s, Jean switched career and took up painting seriously. In 2002 she attained a BA Hons degree in Fine Art. Since then her career has gone from strength to strength and her bright floral paintings have gained an international following.
